Woman with Blue Scarf

18 x 24 inch

oil on stretched canvas

After the first session, the painting looked like a disaster.  The figure looked like a pale, lanky wiggly form in a middle of dark green.  I really considered covering the whole canvas with paint and starting a new one.

But Charles came and pointed out how it has simplified blocks of color, thickly laid paint, interesting splashes of color, and good design.  He sure has a talent for seeing something positive in everyone!  Well, that gave me a new encouragement to keep working on the piece.

The result is, I'm glad I stuck with it.

One kind lady in the class told me that she looks like she's lying next to the ocean looking towards horizon.
