"Ascent to Azalea Garden" plein air painting

From now until June, the weather will be perfect to paint outdoors.

I love plein air painting. The excitement I get from a subject is just incomparable to anything else. The light, the color, the air...everything is so vivid. And a rush to capture as much as possible in a changing light brings an intensely concentrated moment of conversation between nature, myself and a painting.

This house facing Windward Lake has a beautiful yard.  It's not one of those meticulously manicured landscape, but more natural and lush.  The huge azalea bushes were in full bloom all over the lot.
