Plein air painting by Charles River

The weather forecast predicted scattered afternoon shower, but it takes more than that to discourage plein air painters!

A group gathered by Charles River in Newton for a plein air outing.

The overcast lighting is always a challenge, but I found a nice vantage point that gave me a good idea of light and dark.  Two highway bridges gave a nice focal point in a distance.

In spite of not so perfect weather, there were many people kayaking the river.

A boat house with colorful kayaks was another interesting subject to paint, but the view was unfortunately too obstructed.

The rain never came to where we were, and it was another fine outing.
